Volunteers, Insurance & Age: Investigation

The Commissioner is currently investigating potential breaches of anti-discrimination law affecting organisations seeking insurance for their volunteers.  The investigation is examining whether the practice of some insurers to exclude or restrict insurance cover based on age is lawful.

An Issues Paper has been released that seeks feedback on how insurers make decisions in relation to volunteers, age and insurance coverage, and any impact this has on volunteers and volunteer organisations.

To find out more about the investigation, to access a copy of the Issues Paper and to see copies of the submissions received, go to the Volunteers, Insurance & Age: Investigation page.
